Home Remedies for Itchy Feet

Foot itching is a common problem that can be caused by a number of things, including dry skin, Athlete’s foot, or even psoriasis. While it can be tempting to scratch that itch, doing so can actually make the problem worse. Fortunately, there are a number of home remedies that can help.

Apply a Cold Compress

One of the quickest and easiest ways to stop foot itching is to apply a cold compress to the affected area. This will help to numb the itch and stop you from scratching. Simply wrap some ice in a clean cloth and apply it to your foot for a few minutes at a time.

Soak Your Feet in Vinegar

Vinegar has natural antifungal and antibacterial properties, making it an effective home remedy for foot itching caused by Athlete’s foot or other fungal infections. Add 1 cup of vinegar to a bowl of warm water and soak your feet for 15-20 minutes. Do this once or twice daily until the itch subsides.

Moisturize Your Feet Regularly

Dry skin is a common cause of foot itching, so keeping your feet well-moisturized is important. Look for a thick, creamy moisturizer that contains ingredients like shea butter or cocoa butter. Apply it to your feet after bathing and throughout the day as needed.

Dust Your Feet With Cornstarch or Baking Soda

If you’re dealing with an itchy rash on your feet, dusting them with cornstarch or baking soda can help to soothe the irritation and speed up healing. Just mix equal parts cornstarch or baking soda with some water to form a paste, then apply it to the affected area and let it dry completely before rinsing it off. Repeat this several times per day until the rash clears up completely.

Try an Over-The-Counter Antihistamine Cream

If your foot itching is caused by an allergic reaction, applying an over-the-counter antihistamine cream (like Hydrocortisone 1% Cream) to the affected area can help to relieve symptoms.
